As you are probably aware, Bardwell Road is currently experiencing some very severe flooding. We would encourage everyone to avoid this area if possible. If you do need to drive through the flood, please do so at slow speed. This will hopefully lessen damage to the adjacent properties, as well as reduce the risk of damage to your own vehicle. Sadly, we have received reports of drivers soaking pedestrians and those working on trying to solve the problem, this is very disappointing to hear.
The Parish Council are working hard with Suffolk County Council to try and resolve the issue. Suffolk County Council are the Highways Authority and as such are responsible for the roads in our region. The Parish Council has very limited powers and resources to deal with flooding. However, we are receiving a great deal of support from SCC for a road that is not a high priority in the road network but is clearly very important to the residents of Barningham, especially those so badly effected in Bardwell Road. We will continue to assist Suffolk County Council in their work to clear the flood. Any new concerns can be reported to Suffolk County council at https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/highway-maintenance/report-a-highways-issue The Parish Council will be posting updates on Facebook when they receive them. Residents are also welcome to contact the Parish Council via the Parish council website, where further advice on dealing with flooding can be found below.
